Markit’s preliminary US PMI report showed business activity in the manufacturing sector remained stagnant in July with Manufacturing PMI dropping to 50 in July from 50.6 in June. This was below the consensus estimate of 51 and is the lowest level since September 2009. This along with some of the other regional manufacturing data we’ve seen, like the Richmond Fed Index yesterday, points to slowing growth.
