The S&P 500 Index (SPX) opened much weaker this morning, down 19 points (-0.69%), to 2,836. This is the largest opening gap since 5/13. It seemed to us that there have been quite a few gaps lower recently, so we decided to check. The S&P 500 Index (SPX) has gapped lower on the open at least -0.25%, 10 times over the last 14 trading sessions. This is the largest number of gaps lower over a 14-day period since at least 2008, according to Bloomberg data.
