Despite the market being on track for worst December performance since the Great Depression, the Michigan Sentiment Index moved higher. The final reading from the University of Michigan was released this morning and consumer sentiment rose to 98.3, above 97.5 in the prior month and beating the consensus estimate of 97.4.
